a cunt is just a pure asshole.. they normally have to have done something in particular to attain this status.. you can be a wanker without particularly realising it though... especially if you like to talk about yourself.. or are prone to flashy displays of self-worth.

Cunt was the closest I could get as they're both used as rather generic insults these days. Either way the origin is to wank = to masturbate. Hmm....you're perhaps right though. People like the yuppies back in the 80's were probably a good example of a bunch of wankers. This is why the US version of men behaing badly wouldn't work - no wank song!
