The event in Greensboro 45 years ago, in the words of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., reignited the civil rights movement.The freshmen refused to get up until they were served, helping to launch a national sit-in movement that helped rid the South of Jim Crow laws.
The building's exterior, which resembles the downtown Woolworth's as it looked that day in 1960. The store's facade is being restored to its 1960 appearance and will open this summer as a civil rights center and museum.
