religion calls for tolerance, not respect... its something someone CHOOSES to believe, and on that level -- it's valid to judge someone over.. kinda like someone choosing to weigh the evidence of santa claus and choosing to still believe in him, its fair to say that person is a tool. same with the other crap..
religion is NOT to be grouped into judging people over things they cant control, ie race, hair color, country of origin, etc... that calls for respect, and its not fair to judge someone exclusively on something like race -- whereas it IS fair to judge someone on their belief system, since its something they actively CHOSE to believe. it reflects what kind of person they are.
