As well as the pay-per-click, where you get the surfer to pay for each picture, we have something called a micro-subscription. This is like buying access to a member area, but is really designed for buying access to a gallery or perhaps a small site. You can control the time he gets, so for example you could charge 50c for 30 minutes.
We've got some sites being built right now with 300 fetish galleries charged at a dollar or so each for 24 hours. You get a surfer that loves that content, and you can see how charging in this way can generate as much revenue as a year's subscription!
If you've got a load of AVS sites for example, you could put a micro-subscription entry link on each one, and drive traffic to an index page linking to all of them. As always, the results will depend on the traffic you have, but many webmasters find this $1-at-a-time spending model converts better than charging him $30 for the month, and delivers a better bottom line.
You can also use these micro-subscriptions on full member areas. There are some technical restrictions, but for most sites it can be done.
