RAID 0 are two drives working together to get allmost double the performance, but when one drive failes, all data is lost.
RAID 1 are two drives working together to get double the data security. When one drive failes you can continue working while waiting for a new drive.
RAID 0 gives very good performance but I cannot recommend it because of the risk of loosing data. But if you want the performance, maka a backup regularly.
There's also RAID 0/1 which uses 4 drives to have data security as well as good performance.
