At the end of the day, as long as you can edit audio, video and add some decent transistions it should be good. One thing I can say about Vegas compared to Premiere is he whole process I just mentioned is waaaay smoother and more fluid than when using premiere.
FCP is better though.

If you're fine with substandard porn editing then so be it. LOL. The clients I work for all want the highest level they can get and I'm ready to provide that service. And for what they pay I feel embarrased telling them I use the weakest editor on the market. And I've been editing straight to DVD these days, so I figured it's time to increase my quality.
I agree with your second statement. I spoken with a few editors one of them an avid editor that told me it's just a name brand and that the same results could be achieved with a less expensive editing program. However, I just don't feel Vegas is at that level yet.
Vegas is smooth, yes, and fast, yes... but it's also weak. You sacrafice a lot of quality for speed. I feel like I wanna end up dropping the whole thing into after effects to get what I want.
And I do disagree with FCP being better than Vegas. One of my clients has FCP and he's amazed at how easy Vegas is and how quickly I can chop a 4 hour movie. However... like I said you sacrafice quality for speed.
