You can see by this thread why Webfather gave up, you can also see that those who followed are still here today. Even those that did not follow to the letter still picked up nice domains on his advise and still reep the benefits from it.

Yep, I got in on the domain game pretty early (1996) and even though I was buying before I knew Webfather, he got me "re-motivated" on more than one occasion. I definitley picked up a few gems thanks to him.
