the truth is hot lights are ok for stills if you know what you're doing.
and they are easier to work with since you can use automatic exposure---when working with strobes and digital you are usually shooting on manual and tweaking f/stop as you move around the set---this can mean more post processing work balancing gamma and color balance.
the main disadvantage to using hot lights with models is aesthetic.
when using hot lights your set will be very bright (and hot) all the time and the models' pupils will be closed down---and this look in the eyes is not so attractive.
for a sexy glamour look i would advise shooting in subdued light and working with strobes---this causes the models pupils to open up and gives a very sexy glamour look to the eyes.
