Why did you wait until after you had purchased it to ask if it was suitable?

Unless you're planning to print the pics, or your members have huge 2500x2000 pixel screens, the number of megapixels isn't really relevant - that's just a marketing ploy that most consumers fall for...

Being a compact camera it has a smaller sensor and cheaper optics, so it won't compare very well with SLRs such as the Digital Rebel posted in this thread. The major problem with compact cameras is that smaller sensors usually show more noise in low light. They also have a tendency to bloom (light leaks into adjacent cells) and show purple fringing where there is a rapid change in contrast. You may also have problems with red eyes because the flash position is very close to the lens.

If you can afford a better camera, take that one back and buy a digital rebel. Of course if you're going for the amateur look then it's probably fine.
