yeah i know there are already Johnny Carson obit threads. the man was a legend, cool as the other side of the pillow, not sure the younger GFYers know how huge Carson was in his prime in the 60's and 70's. Nothing like Leno or Letterman or Conan - North America went to sleep with Johnny Carson for 25 years. Everybody watched him, i grew up in the 70's watching every night with my old man - hot chicks, interesting interviews, the best standup comedians - there won't be another Tonight Show, Jay Leno's is a pale imitation.

And Johnny knew when it was time to leave the stage - and when he left, boy did he leave - only saw him once on TV since he left in 1992. A 60 Minutes piece - made me sad - he had emphysema - Carson chain smoked, coming out of commercials you'd see him desperately taking one last drag on his cigarette before the red light came on.
