I see some very valid reasons to use DRM technology, not for a monthly membership based site though. I implemented DRM on my site
www.sammy4u.com for a few months and I didn't see that people were joining back up to watch the movies they already seen. They join back up at a later date to see the new movies.
I did get alot of complaints and had a huge increase in technical support issues. It was wasting my time trying to explain it everyone who had issues with it. Although many guys understood the need for it they still felt they were getting ripped off.
It does not work for Mac users either. Although that may not be a huge segment of surfers it is still a viable group of surfers I want to be able to market to. It just did not work for us plain and simple.
As others have said their are many ways I can see DRM being an asset to a business model but it needs to be utilized better then just to stop guys from watching your movies after their membership expires.
