Alexander went into the wilderness to conquer and possess. The pilgrims FLED a system they decided was inadequate to their rights as human beings.

I'm not saying America hasn't drifted shamefully from those founding ideals (as recently, even, as the illegitimate detainment of Arab-Americans in Cuba without process), all I'm saying is something that had never happened before in history happened at the genesis of the United States, and (even though we've grown corrupt and depraved in our ways since then) it was really kinda cool.
