From my experience stuff like this can be responded to in a non violent manner. Clear up the facts and solidify your position. Anger will make you look a lot worse. I would know, I've been in a lot of drama.
Some stuff can be ignored, some can't. But getting pissy about it is ALWAYS a bad idea.
