Music is currently a commodity, they package it and sell it off like cotton candy. Hip Hop (Rap music to be more precise) has paved the route for this. Nearly everything that appears on BET the Basement has obviously been selected by white sony execs to maximize the 'dumbening' (see 'the Simpsons) effect on it's viewes who are, for the majority of some african descent. it has only been the past 10 years or so where the notion itegrity and musician have become unrellated. Also, musicians are no longer artists, real artists cannot exist in a consumer society - exactly like China 1970 when all artists and itellectuals became enemies of the state under the new regime. Consumerism is imperialism, *see Lenin
