Windows Networking/Workgroup Question(s)

This is for all the Windows networking gurus...

So, I had a basic windows workgroup setup between all of the PCs and laptops here via GB switch, with folder sharing between machines for files, and everything worked great. A couple of ms security updates go by, and suddenly the sharing doesn't work anymore. The profiles are there, and I can see all of the machines, but every pc gets an access denied error when trying to view the folders on the other machines (shared printers too). I even tried to just go through normal guest account access, but one two of the machines are missing their guest accounts (not disabled, deleted).

Any ideas on how to easily get the sharing access back? All machines are XP, have the latest ms updates, and are currently clean of viruses and spyware.
