I think I'm safe in this thread, as I have a passport and have been a lot of places... but....

You do need to keep in mind that going to another country (not counting Canada or Mexico, where you don't even need a passport as an American), is a lot further away than in Europe or Asia.

It is an 8 hour drive from Erie Pennsylvania, to Philly Pennsylvania. It is a 3000 MILE flight from coast to coast.

An American going on vacation to Disneyland is a lot more difficult than a Brit going to France, and at the end of the day, the weather is a lot nicer.

Bottom line, if an American has a passport, they are going 3-5k MILES away. Check your stats and see how many of your passport holders went that far. The Chunnel doesn't make you a world traveler.
