This has nothing to do with feeling sorry for what you eat. Most people I believe would be disgusted by the conditions at a slaughter house but quickly forget that the products they are gobbling down are the result of it. I believe that people should not be so disconnected from the killing.
I know it's hard to imagine extending elementary moral rights to anything else other than us...
