I have a site that for the most part stays about 1k - 1.3k visitors a day. I never even promote it anymore. It gets about 30% of it's traffic from SE, and about 65% from good old fashioned link exchange. There are no trade scripts on it.

The site did about 180 signups since January (email sponsor) but they pay out was really low, (but the signups were consistent).

Now, I changed the sponsor to FreeEzineBucks, and right away I was making signups, at the same rate with the other sponsor. Not much, but since it's a site that I never promote anyway...

I'm still getting the same amount of signups, but the payout is better with free ezine.

Ok, now, all of a sudden today for no reason at all, the site has had over 4000 visitors. Remember, I don't promote it at all.

And for some reason FreeEzine went completey dead 2 days ago. Not a sale, not a single hit... nothing.

My traffic more than tripled. On a site that I had consistent signups, I should have seen an equal increase in sales as well, but instead the opposite happened.

Any advice, or guidance?
