Now, ANYTHING which creates a great enough deficiency in your immune system could lead you to have "AIDS". HIV is just the leading cause of such a thing.

It isn't either or which kills you. When a virus or bacteria enters your system while you have AIDS it goes rampant as you have no immune system to fight it off.

Stop

Think about it for a minute

You get HIV.
You lose your immune system (Now you have AIDS)
You catch the most common virus
Your body can't fight it
It turns into something worse causing more problems
You die.

Thanks for coming out though
"You get HIV." = HIV is a virus by definition

"You lose your immune system (Now you have AIDS)" = because of the HIV

"You catch the most common virus" = You already have a virus, but yes you are likley to get more and many bacterial infections, the HIV has depleted your immune system

"You die." = Possibly
