It's a pile of bullshit - just one of several scare tactics used by the controlling religions to keep people from thinking freely. Not only is it possible to be good without God, it's easier to be good - you don't have any church leaders (like Bin Laden or Falwell) telling you to do things that you know in your heart, and your brain, are just plain wrong.
