Sometimes it isn't even about making money, but cutting your losses. If you buy something for $20 (say a DVD) and are done with it you can either have it sit on your shelf forever or resell it on e-Bay. You might not get the $20 back, but if you can get $15 back, at least you are only out $5 not all $20. That's how I see it in situations like that. Of course it is more ideal to sell at a big profit, but sometimes that just isn't possible. Just my
