That's nice, but the only problem is, you should give your money to any other charity than the american red cross.
They actually keep almost 60% of what they take in as administration costs.
I also know personally from 9-11, that they are the worst to deal with when getting money. They acted like I was trying to steal the money out their pockets, when I was just trying to get some sort of roof over my families head. All of the other charities, especially the salvation army were amazing, and I give money to them every chance I get. They were there for my family when I needed them, and weren't on every talk show touting how great they are.
Not sure if you know, but they also stock piled part of the money that people gave specifically for 9-11 victims, for other things. I would guess they are probably doing the same here.
I am talking about the American Red Cross, not the international red cross.
So give what you can, just make sure it is actually going to the people who need it, and not the CEO's bonus of the ARC.
