If you lost your shirt, spend another 500-1000 trying something else. If you came close, see if you can refine your approach to make it profitable. I would not spend the full amount on one approach/idea until you have some idea how to profit from the investment. PPC, high-PR text links, TGPs, domains, paysites, and so on can all turn a profit, but all these approaches have experienced competitors, so you need to read up, experiment, and learn how to turn a profit.
