here is a quick class for anyone here who needs it.
having your images hotlinked is only for people who have no idea how to run their site who who wants their stuff hot linked, I have stuff that can be hot linked because I want it hot linked, but for galleries this is what you do.
I have a gallery here
http://www.landofvenus.com/galleries/1/index.html
the html and thumbs are in the same directory )the directory 1 as you see above), the actual images are in http://www.landofvenus.com/galleries/1/images/
there is a htaccess in /images that only allow the pics to loaded from
http://www.landofvenus.com/galleries/1/index.html
its that simple.
Now start worrying about making money and stop sweating the small stuff.

Not small stuff when I saw 3% of my bandwidth for a site go to fusker. as expalined above I took down my htaccess protection, prolly for a stupid reason. 3% would have grown. I'll replace the htaccess as it is the smart thing to do. Also will learn a bit more along the way. I'm not at the same level as some here on the scripting side etc.
Plus the thrill of Smokey and MattO teaching these guys a lesson is worth more than any drama thread.
Wanna help, list your htaccess file if you can. I'd be interested in what you did. Not sure that would be smart?? It would reveal your protection in part. You also have a firewall.
Or ICQ, I'd go through it line by line for my own education. I can use google and read the white papers too, but would appreciate seeing code in use...
