Don't sweat it. This kind of background noise silliness is common to every major donation drive. A certain group of people think that the motivation behind a donation is as or more relevant than the donation itself. It's not. No one running this drive cares why Bullock donated the money.

Those who make noise about this type of thing generally are not donating time or money, and have no credibility.

The fact of the donation is all that matters. For example: the amount she donated could provide healthcare kits to over 630,000 people. These are kits containing rehydration tablets, water, and high protien biscuits. 630,000 people. The people on the ground watching men, women and children die only care that what they need to prevent such deaths arrives. They could care less if the arrival was because a celeb wanted some publicity. In fact, their response would be: "I sure hope 100 others are similarly motivated."

Add in that from personal past experience, her donation is probably worth 3-6 million in donations from other VIPs, and you start getting into the realm of helping millions of people.

The why of the donation is simply not as important as people starving to death, or children dying of dysentery. Well - unless your values are unbelievably screwed up.
