spacedog you need a better videocard or better monitor.. working in 800 x 600 is claustrophobic as hell.. no room to move..

boneprone, CRT monitors are still retardedly cheap compared to LCD's, even small LCD's.. as most video cards shipping with low-end systems are geforce mx's and other cheapies that are capable of higher res's all it really takes is for the user to go into their property settings..
the manufacturers just have to make 1024 x 768 as default and that will clear this whole thing up..

that said, most people can get by quite easily on 800 x 600.. when using web design programs i used to crank my 17" to 1280 x 1024 so i could fit everything on the page without scrolling.. when designing *for* 800 x 600 you should be running in a higher resolution so you can see tool pallettes and everything as well as the canvas... but that only applies to people doing design...

theres no way i'd give up my 21" for a smaller LCD.. (cept of course for the fact that a 19" LCD screen actually is 19" but a 21" CRT is 19.8" viewable or whatever, so yeah i wouldn't mind taking less radiation and going for a 19" LCD..)
