It happens with all types of content production. The people purchasing content for pennies are shooting themselves in the foot as well.
If they were prepared to pay a reasonable figure for content they could build up genuine long term relationships with quality producers. Instead they go for the cheapest they can get from producers who can't survive financially.
The end result is that they waste time looking for a new provider every time they need new content because the guy they used last time is out of business. You would think that they would learn their lesson but some of them never do.
