Yes, it's much better to go with "lots of people died so I'm going to mope around and feel miserable for a long time" rather than "wow, you could die at any time. I guess they were right when they said you should live today like there's no tomorrow"

Yeah, it was a tragedy.... but unless you were directly affected by it (someone you know died), then I'd say just learn from it and do what ever makes you happy today because tomorrow.... a 500km/h wave might show up... you just don't know.

If you are unable to be there to help out, if you're unable to make any real difference and you're not directly affected by it.... then just learn from it. It's much more productive than crying in your cereal.
