There was a study done on how to reduce world population. It concluded that education of women was the key. I'm talking general education, not sex education. It's simple mathematics. 9 guys and 1 woman still produce just 1 baby every nine months, whereas 9 women and 1 guy can produce 9 babies.

Women were found to be the key point of address, and education was found to be the major contributing factor, even above religious influence (eg, no birth control). Women who were educated had more options, more interests, and had fewer babies.
