My favorite is
Time Enough At Last with Burgess Meredith. He's a bank teller who wishes everyone would leave him alone so he can just have time to read books. He accidently locks himself in the bank vault one day, right before a nuclear attack that kills off the human race (kinda hokey). Without people to bother him all the time, he finally has time to read all the books he wants... Then, at the last minute, he trips and falls, and breaks his coke-bottle glasses.
