It's funny though... the vast majority of the download sites start by using mirror sites and they do automated md5 checks to ensure file integrity. A digital sig does not automatically insure that a windows app hasnt been modified (depending on the signing settings) and frankly I would be surprised if the errors he had weren't because of spyware that IE let through. He doesnt understand obviously that the VAST majority of spyware / malware that is installed either comes in nicely signed packages or through lameass activex holes that they never bother to plug. I had an un filewalled sp2 ie for about 45 minutes after I got my new machine. It had TWO searchbars within that 45 minutes. I finally found the UNINSTALL IE instructions out there and since then I have had ZERO spyware. I dont even bother to run my scanners more than once a week and NONE of my scanners have found anything but cookies since then. (11 hours after ie was first run-to downlaod firefox and get one other app I scanned with s&d and had 97 traces of actual spyware. fucking ie)
