Ultimately one should stay true to themselves. Because there are those who choose different paths in life, does not mean they aren't genuine. The closest thing man has to afterlife security is following the belief that comes from within. Life is a journy of discovery that alters one's inner being, as long as one's actions are reflective of the nature from within - a man can do no more to please the gods.
Those who choose to ignore to do what they know to be right, are those who shall be stricken with disapproval in the event of an afterlife judgement.
Question not others, but yourself.
