That only applies to the attachments uploaded BEFORE Lensman set the 'super users' permissions.

The extra packets sent out would crash the board in 5 minutes. (well maybe a little longer) When you load a forum index, it loads and cache's all the previews from each topic on that page. Multiply that by +1000 users online, whilst new topics started every 30 seconds and you've got yourself a complete meltdown. But it would be fun to count the query strings.
