I was a life insurance broker for 7 years, i've sceen morbitity tables dating back 100 years - the highest likly time for an older person to die if right after a major holiday like christmas. It has no effect on the mortality of people under 45 though.

My grandma left us on christmas too, I figured she wanted to see us kids one more time before she took her rest.
She lived a good long life.
