I was a life insurance broker for 7 years, i've sceen morbitity tables dating back 100 years - the highest likly time for an older person to die if right after a major holiday like christmas. It has no effect on the mortality of people under 45 though.

Those things tend to happen during this time of year probably due to all the flu and the weather, not enough sunshine, depression... and yeah probably sometimes stress of family. Dec 10 last year I watched my grandpa go and it was fairly fast. He had cought the flu after breaking his hip and turned to pnemonia... and my Grandma several years earlier was a sudden heart attack and we watched her go about an hour before my sons birthday party. It definately affects you each year...
