You have no more idea whether someone's board persona reflects the person behind it, than most of us can know whether you are really as insecure and boorish as your board personality suggests.

The whole board thing has got too childish. When handles were just shorthand for most people and only a few turned into keyboard warriors, you had discussions, heated or not, exactly like those you might have had in the real world. That made them entertaining.

Nowadays most such threads, especially when the most frequent posters get involved, are about as real as if a bunch of bots were talking to each other and just as predictable. In the real world no-one is always an assh*le or always rational. . . so you get surprizes. It's beyond me how these days anyone still finds any real drama or humor.
