Apples and oranges, Scott - guys that are friends fuck around with each other and make jokes about each other and their families BECAUSE they're close enough to be able to do so and NOT offend each other.
This is a public place where a guy was looking for Xmas gift ideas and you offered to fuck his wife as a favor if he paid you and would do it for free if she was cute.
Maybe among your "hometown friends" THAT would have been funny and acceptable ... yoiu're not friends with Marty and he took offense rightly so, IMHO.
BTW - I don't think he flipped out ... you haven't seen him flipped out ... and I don't think you will in Vegas. Marty is a straight up guy and knows this is all bullshit, although I'm sure you pissed him off pretty well.
Bet you'll both have smoothed this out by Vegas anyway!
