okay, even if you made a joke, he was offended. It was his wife and in his opinion, you crossed the line. Seeing how he's a good guy, don't you think that alone merits an apology? and FYI, I dont think it was the first comment that pissed him off. I beleive it was the second comment you made, when he let you know that, that line of joking wasnt funny to him, and you still disrespected him by furthering your joke.
