traceroute is the route it goes through to get to your site. If someone in london, england wants to check out a site thats hosted in houston, texas... it probably goes through a multitude of networks.. so a traceroute is the map or directions it took to get to your server.
I dont know fi theres such thing as a good/bad traceroute, I'd assume the less places it had to go to get to your site, the better.
