Vigilante justice is nothing new in the US or any country for that matter. We've been there done that. People used to be shot in the US just for having a point of view (for instance, abolitionist Elijah Lovejoy was shot and killed by a mob outside of his workplace just for writing editorials that disagreed with the majority in his community - his 'crime' was that he was opposed to slavery). Vigilante justice doesn't work for the better of society. It turns good citizens into murderers. And when mobs are the ones deciding what is right and wrong, innocent people get hurt more often (somebody posted an article in this thread where a group of people killed the wrong guy)
I believe pedos cannot be cured just like a straight man can't be "cured" from desiring women. It's the way they were born, unfortunately, and so I think they need to be locked up for good. It's better they're locked up than for them to destroy the lives of young children.
Until such laws are in place we should respect the law. The law is all we have to protect us. It's something we all agree to abide by for our benefit and for others. It's sacred and if we begin etching away at it we may return to pre 19th Century ways of behaving.
