You may be disappointed to discover that a certain number of dead pixels are actually acceptable and not sufficient grounds for return.
I remember when I bought my first laptop, and it had a dead (bright blue) pixel in the middle of the screen, the shop would not take it back because they were allowed 5 bad pixels before it was considered 'defective'.
Needless to say, I had them open up the box and show me the running screen for the next laptop I bought before accepting it - we had to go through 5 laptops before we found one which did not have a dead pixel. The sales guy was sweating with every new box we opened.
Just like 'bubble memory' (that's not being nostalgic about booty) - a certain number of defective elements are considered normal.
If you do try and return your item, please let us know how you make out.
