One thing I get tired of people automatically start thinking it's only "hick towns" that racist shit happens in.
Man there isn't a bigger racist town than Los Angeles, California....oops sorry maybe I should have mentioned New York City...2 havens for ultra-liberals...the simple fact is racism is prevalent wherever you go.
And this is in regard to FADE's post about everyone having a racist thought at one time or another.
This is true...I too have had racist thoughts on numerous occasions and felt justified.
But I never was.
Hell growing up here in Texas you hear that word a lot and I in fact used it when I was still a little dumb shit in high school...against a friend.
There is nothing in this life I have regretted more. And hell I probably would have felt a lot better if he had just kicked my ass but all he did was look at me and say..."since you're my friend I'll let that slide."
It's an event I doubt he even thinks of to this day because he had such class...but it's one I think about on numerous occasions.
But that is not what this thread is about...who has done what to who and when...or he who is without sin casting the first stone.
This thread is about whether or not I as a white guy should have the right to call any african-american a ****** for any reason...be it hate or play.
I still say no.
I think the word has it's place in literature, film, plays, art etc. We cannot sweep it under the rug and forget it ever existed...and keep calling it "the n word."
But that is different. In instances like that it is used to provoke thought, teach us lessons, or to shock us out of our fantasy worlds and back into reality.
But it is never right to be used to harm another individual or label an entire population.
I'm not even going to post on this thread anymore because quite honestly...I don't think anyone who needs to start a thread to ask this question deserves a dvd player.
