that idea is not new at all... some lls even use thumbnails on their cat pages already.
however an important factor of the LL game is SE traffic which means CONTENT - not picture but text wise.
No need to give the surfers preview pictures of the content. All I care about are googlebot & co. and they don't need thumbnails to like my site
