AOL could easily end spamming by sending a simple mail to all their accounts stating how aol accounts are stolen and spamming would get shutdown 95%,but they don;t in fear of losing customers..that simple

dude, there is a such a steady influx of idiots on america online that there is an endless pool of people to scam. not to mention, in RED letters on almost every form AOL has they tell you not to give out your password. and even if they're not giving it out many of them are downloading password stealers and just getting their password ganked that way.
