When I was in middle school, I gave a friend with cramps a Tylenol. I got suspended, and ordered to counseling. This was 15 years ago, too.
A few months ago, my son snagged a roll of rolaids of my nightstand since they look and taste like candy, and brought them to school, and shared them with another child. He was sent to an alternative school for a week, where he was physically threatened by a high school child. My son is ten years old. He also was ordered to counseling in order to return to school.
Meanwhile, my step-son will have rages and throw chairs and he's only sent to the guidance counselor for a "time-out".
Seems pretty incongruous to me.
