They are hot because most people think or wish to believe it is not 'supposed' to be visible, when in reality, it is all planned & staged for PR purposes. Anyone who doesn't want their body parts visible to the public eye, will cover them - starting with pasties to a bra to a shirt with no peek-a-boo possibilities - and definitely undies. That's my take on it - forbidden fruit type phenomena.
