Van explodes in Brooklyn, N.Y.
NEW YORK, March 24 ? A van exploded in Brooklyn, N.Y., Sunday, injuring one man, police said.
The man was getting into a green van when it exploded, according to police.
Witnesses told The Associated Press he was thrown from the car into the street, and it appeared part of his right leg had been blown off.
?The guy wasn?t moving,? Kustra Zbigniew, 51, a neighbor who heard the blast, told The Associated Press. ?His hair and beard were burned, and it looked like he wasn?t breathing,?
The blast occurred in a residential area on 42nd Street near 16th Avenue in the Borough Park section, a predominantly Jewish neighborhood.
A bomb squad is investigating the scene, police told MSNBC.com.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York City. His identity was not immediately released
