the only situation where I would ask that question is if I had no reason to respect the person or I wanted to know if I should dig around in their sites to see if I could learn something. Eithe way, the correct answer is "Don't worry about it", and if they drop that issue but keep talking to you - they decided to respect you, if they stop talking to you - good riddance.
