I think one of the problems is that the military chose to promote 'sign-ups' using images of awesome destinations that you can travel to.. the fun you can have.. etc etc.. so they appealed to the youth of today that they could get an education, travel and basically have an awesome time in the military, WHILE they get paid.

Then the war happens.. and all of a sudden it sinks in to these new soldiers that they might die (last I heard 1,001 soldiers have been killed in this war).. and so they freak out, shit themselves and head up to Canada hoping to be a refugee figuring that's not what they signed up for.

When you join the military you give your freedom up basically. You are now under orders and you must do what you are told regardless.. that is how the military can be successful. When people stop following orders and disobeying commands and fleeing, then the whole infrastructure gets out of whack, and THAT makes it more dangerous for those people who at least stick by their commitments and follow-through by completing their tour of duty.

I hope that our govt (Canada) kicks these guys back to the US. I mean, DOH!, if you had a problem with going to war, then you just shouldn't have signed up to be in the military..

LOL - and that was my 400th post
