First off, I'm a designer- A pretty good one, most think. I'm honestly not trying to offend anyone- but I am a little offended with this thread.

Shit, you can buy 5 logos at corporate prices from the promotion you're getting from this contest...
That kinda downgrades our trade, ya know?
It's not even like it's a solid 100 dollar gig- it's a contest- dozens of people will waste their time for nothing.
There was a time when I sucked, imagine that.
but even at the lowest point in design I was dropping logo's for a bill and a half.
A good logo will carry you and preserve your company image through the wearing of time, so why cut yorself short?
